About North East Delhi district, which is a district of the National Capital Territory of Delhi in India. It is one of the eleven administrative districts of Delhi. The district has been divided into three sub-divisions: Shahdara, Seemapuri and Seelampur. It lies in the north-eastern part of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. It includes the localities of Shahdara, Seelampur, Jaffrabad, Welcome Colony, Maujpur, Karawal Nagar, Yamuna Vihar and Bhajanpura. The area extends from the Yamuna River in the west to the state border with Uttar Pradesh in the east. This district was created in 1997 and is divided into 3 administrative units called tehsil.

The total area of this district is 62 square kilometers. As of 2011, the population of this district was 2,241,624, of which 2,220,097 lived in urban areas and 21,527 lived in rural areas. of which 1,188,425 were males and 1,053,199 were females.
The district has a literacy rate of 83.9%, higher than the national average of 77%. This district has a sex ratio of 858 females per 1,000 males.
The majority of the population in this district are Hindus (68.22 %), followed by Muslims (29.34 %), Sikhs (0.78 %) and Christians (0.41 %).
